Help Your Child Read (medicine)

Teaching your chidren to read exposes them to more opportunities in life. They can go anywhere and do anything when they are engrossed in reading books. But in today’s age of iphones and video games usually the last thing our kids want to do is to learn to read. However, you can overcome your child’s disdain of learning with some fun and simple tricks. Implement some of these tips on a regular basis will start your kids down the path of learning and they’ll be reading in no time.
Example Is Better Than Preaching
You cannot expect your children to love something that you personally dislike.Yes, your kids are more perceptive than you might believe!. If you desire your kids to be prolific readers you have to be one too. It may be books, magazines, or even lovely coffee table books full of pictures. Just let them see you reading and try to read often together.
Reading to Your Children
Kids love being read aloud to. Cuddling up on the couch with a good book is a wonderful way to spend time with your child. Even older children like to be read to, especially while they are involved in other hands-on type activities.
Create A Reading Environment
Make a reading corner in your house.You can create a specific theme also. Fix up a comfortable location with beanbag chairs, or a large overstuffed pillow, a small bookcase. You won’t have to look far when they get quiet to find them.Encouraging them to read will also significantlyreduce the noise level in your home! Once they start using the place, you may find that your home is a lot quieter too!
Scatter Books Around the House
Always Leave books lying around. Place books in the bathroom, on their nightstands, in the living room and even in the kitchen. When they are bored they will pick them up out of curiosity.
Use a Library Card
Get them their own library card. Children love having their own library cards and checking out books they choose, on their own.
Got to the Library Often
Visit the library often. Schedule a regular library day, and just let them sit and read for a while in the library. Take advantage of your local library’s programs, such as story times, to help capture a child’s interest in books.Of course, if they see you doing the same, it will reinforce this habit.
Throw Out Book Teasers
Drop tantalizing hints about a book. Start reading one yourself that your children might like and “share” some tempting tidbits. When they want to know what happens - say , “Oh you will have to read it for yourself, you won’t believe it!”
Watch The Movie First
Watch a movie about a book. Then say, “I wonder how close that was to the book? Maybe we should read that.”
Make Your Own Books
Let them make their own books. Younger children especially love this. Something as simple as plain paper stapled together becomes a timeless treasure when they write their own stories. Let younger children tell you the story and you write it out and they illustrate it. And if they’re really good, you might be able to make a quick buck or two.

The Science of Internet Marketing

In an interview with a senior corporate executive in one of Australias largest financial institutions, I asked what she thought had been the biggest change in marketing and sales over the past 10 years.She answered that marketing and sales are becoming much more scientific.The measurability of sales and marketing efforts will be what determines where marketing investment is directed.It is no longer good enough to guess - executives what to see a return for investment.
My own background is in the area of Information Technology and I have worked on some large transformational projects in the areas of Customer Relationship Management (or CRM), sales force effectiveness in direct distribution models and call centres.I have also played a large part in developing data warehousing and analytics strategies to exploit the rich information that effective CRM and sales force automation tools generate.So I was not surprised to hear that response to my question.What is surprising is how slowly corporate are to adopting the science.
One of the biggest challenges as a technology strategist is to ensure that technology is not the focus of most projects (there are some projects where it is appropriate, eg technology infrastructure projects).Information technology is a capability that exists to manage the real corporate asset - information.Dont forget the ‘I’ in ‘IT’!It is how the organisation uses the information assets that has the potential to drastically improve sales and marketing efforts.But there is a real challenge…
The word ‘change’.In many organisations twenty percent of the sales people generate eighty percent of sales.Furthermore, these people often believe that selling is an art, not a science, and are unwilling to change.Their experience in sales typically spans decades and they argue that their methods are proven.So achieving a positive return on investment in sales and marketing projects that have a significant technology investment is challenging.In fact Gartner Group have stated that 70% of customer relationship management projects fail.
It is not all doom and gloom though!Companies that achieve success in strengthening their sales and marketing capabilities and importantly, integrate the two functions, will enjoy a competitive advantage because the unwillingness to change is a barrier to entry of this elite group of companies.Let me explain.
There are only so many places of value to market on the internet.In Australia Google has about eighty percent of the search engine market.Any company that wants to be a leader online in Australia must achieve prominence in this search engine.As we all know though, this prominence comes at a price and the price is increasing.So converting this investment and the traffic that results to profitable business is the primary objective.How do we so that?
This is where the science offers promise.
I believe that companies that dominate the major search engine positions, particularly for paid advertising, will build positions of unassailable competitive advantage.Why?Because they will know exactly what the return on investment for each and every keyword is and will use this knowledge to prevent new entrants from entering.In future articles I am going to talk about how these companies will achieve this position of dominance.Interestingly, I dont believe that it will necessarily be big businesses either.They certainly have the buying power but they suffer from the change resistance more than smaller and more nimble businesses.So the battles will be very interesting going forward.

Blavatskys Message and Teaching

Helena Petrovna Blavatskys (HPB) task was to act as a messenger to bring the knowledge that there is a Divine Wisdom Theo-sophia as the root and basis upon which all philosophies, sciences and religions are founded and which guides the cosmos, nature and human life.
This Divine Wisdom is variously known as the Ancient Wisdom, or Wisdom-Religion, or Esoteric Philosophy, or Perennial Philosophy, or Occult Science. All these terms allude to the fact that Theo-sophia is not a system of belief formulated by an individual, nor a religion in the ordinary meaning of the word denoting formalized worship and ritual; instead it is the accumulated wisdom of innumerable ages that has been systematically checked by generations of sages the world over.
What then is Occult Science?
It is a generic term referring to the Hermetic or Esoteric Sciences, which explore the essential, or hidden secrets of Nature physical and psychic, mental and spiritual rather than, but not excluding, Her outward appearance and mechanical behavior which Western science studies to virtual perfection.
For example, that Swedenborg came to the Occult teachings in his general conceptions is shown by his essay on the Vortical Theory.
HPBs message
As to the message that HPB brought: it is based on fundamental axioms formulated into three propositions that cannot be thought of independently from the whole, meaning that no aspect, no principle and no law can be properly considered in isolation: the Universe and all that is in it constitute a WHOLE.
Furthermore, it cannot be too strongly emphasized that these propositions are not the invention of HPB or anyone else. They form the basis of the presentation of the doctrines of the Divine Wisdom. Countless generations of sages have checked these doctrines by study as well as practical experience in a manner akin to the inductive method of science whereby a hypothesis put forward is checked by repeatable experiments and only when there is a sufficient corroboration between hypothesis and experimental verification is the former elevated to a theory.
In similar vein these sages have found the teachings enunciated to be in consonance with the overriding philosophy formulated by them. But it was HPB who synthesized the diverse and scattered fragments of this doctrine into a coherent system and body of knowledge made available for the first time to, and in a suitable idiom for, the Western world at large.
But it is as well to point out here HPBs counsel that no human-born doctrine, no creed, however sanctified by custom and antiquity, can compare in sacredness with the religion of Nature. The Key of Wisdom that unlocks the massive gates leading to the arcana of the innermost sanctuaries can be found hidden in her bosom only: and that bosom is in the countries pointed to by the great seer of the past century Emanuel Swedenborg. There lies the heart of nature, that shrine whence issued the early races of primeval Humanity, and which is the cradle of physical man.
The Cards of Destiny have dealt humankind a jewel beyond price in HPBs message of spiritual uplift and universal brotherhood to be attained by a knowledge of the eternal verities of our existence. Have we used this sublime gift with gratitude, understanding and love? Who is to say? All spiritual teachers are but messengers. They proffer no initiations and perform no miracles at our behest. All that they can do is to say, with H. P.Blavatsky: I can tell you how to find those who will show you the secret gateway that leads inward only, and closes fast behind the neophyte for evermore. For those who win onwards, there is reward past all telling: the power to bless and save humanity. For those who fail, there are other lives in which success may come.
